Grant Youth Baseball

Grant Youth Baseball relies on volunteers to coach, organize, and plan baseball for the more than 100 kids that participate in our program annually.  We need every coach (regardless of baseball knowledge) graduating from Little League to help keep our neighborhood program going.

Grant Youth Baseball 2026

Grant Youth Baseball is focused on providing an opportunity for kids in NE Portland to play (13U & 14U) baseball.

The Spring 2026 season will be played under the Junior Baseball Organization (JBO).
  • No change in registration fee of $825.
  • Practices will start in mid March.
  • Regular league play generally begins in mid-April and continues through late June or early July. 
  • Teams that advance to a district tournament will continue until approximately mid-July.
  • Teams that further advance to the JBO State Tournament may continue playing until the last weekend in July.

Teams
  • We expect to field 4-5 teams total: 1 at the Federal Level, 2 at the American Level, and 1-2 at the National Level. Number of teams may be limited by number of players trying out and number of volunteer coaches registered.
  • There will be one 14U Travel Team and one 13U Travel Team. **Please note travel team players will play additional cost to cover tournament fees (approx $300-$500)**
  • 2 Coaches for each travel team will be pre-selected by the GYB Board, and others can be added after player evaluations.

Player evaluations
  • Sunday, March 1st (tentative and time TBD)
  • Academy practices on Sundays leading up to the official tryout - February 1, 8, 15, 22
  • Based on last years participants and the number of players graduating from HRCLL and WRLL, we estimate there will be more players than roster spots, in which case we will need to make cuts (not all players are guaranteed to make a team).
